Yoga With Simon Borg-Olivier at Pure-Li Yoga

I’m delighted and truly honoured to host Simon at Pure-Li Yoga. As is explained below in his bio, Simon is a long time Yoga teacher, and teacher-training teacher, and has been been a massive and greatly beneficial influence on my path to understanding the teachings of Yoga, the philosophy of Yoga and how my anatomy and physiology works in every day life! It truly is a gift to our community to have him share his gold with us here at Pure-Li Yoga.

I first encountered Simon, around about 2011, at the Yoga Synergy school in Sydney. A school that had been in operation for over 20 years back then – and is still going! For me, it was the first Yoga style and teaching style, that I really connected with, since leaving Ireland and coming to live in Australia. Clear instructions, options for simple to more complex versions of poses, and the proof in the pud – how energised, ALIVE and well I felt after the practice.

I loved the teachers and the offerings from the Yoga Synergy school, created and run by both Bianca Machliss and Simon, and some years later, I went to Goa in India with them, and did some more teacher training with both of these magic teachers. A short time after our return from Goa, I became a teacher at the Yoga Synergy school myself before making the move up here to Clunes!

Over the last decade, on top of the teacher training, I’ve completed workshops with Simon on movement, meditation, applied anatomy and physiology. His approach is lively but gentle, and is only as complex as you wish to make it for yourself. I love how he invites us to understand our own individual bodies by experimenting in class and getting curious. Each session with Simon is like a mini workshop – you won’t be constantly moving in the time you are with him, some of the time will be him explaining and demonstrating, and some of the time will be you practising. . What I have learned with Simon I take with me off the mat every single day – because it’s about learning how move and breathe in a way that results in vitality and wellness, not really about what a Yoga pose should look like! And I always have great FUN! I must admit that is a large part of my enjoying his classes, I love the playful and gentle invitation to partake in what he shares, with no pressure or judgement in how I choose to participate.

I have been getting a lot of requests for Yoga and Meditation, and I understand how needed this is in our community at the moment. Having something new for the mind to focus on, that complements our health and well-being as well as connecting with community and having a laugh is a tonic, and the break I know many of you are seeking. Simon is offering a sizeable reduction to his usual rates at the moment, making it a phenomenal opportunity to learn from this master teacher.

5-Dimensional Flow : a 6-Week In-Person Course.

Safe, Accessible & Effective, Posture, Movement & Breathing for Health, Happiness & Longevity.

By Simon Borg-Olivier, MSc, BAppSc (Physiotherapy) APAM c-IAYT

ABOUT THE COURSE:

In this six week course, Simon will guide you through 6 X 90 minute weekly sessions of gentle movements that will teach you how to move, breathe, and act from your core.

Your core is not just a set of muscles. It is the seat of your enteric nervous system (your gut-brain), immune system, reproductive system, and digestive system.

Moving from your core helps you develop better core strength, improve circulation and energy levels, and remain relaxed in stressful situations. This practice also promotes the health of the digestive, reproductive, and immune systems.

This practice can be a beautiful, dynamic meditation. It can put you into the flow state or zone of the athlete without any of the stressful physical effects that many exercise practitioners suffer from.

In each of the classes, Simon will teach the first part of the class with verbal and visual instructions. This helps you understand the things you need to do on the inside of your body to enhance your experience. In this part of each session, Simon explains things that cannot be easily seen by the naked eye.

Then, in the second part of the practice, Simon will lead you through a meditative visually instructed session(no verbal instructions) to music.
