The Magnificent Damien Dempsey.

An interview with one of my all time favourite singer/songwriters who is back in Sydney at the Opera House.  I love the way he can blend traditional Irish music with that of other cultures and times, and sings so passionately from his heart, about the human experience … telling the stories of the people and keeping history alive in our minds.  He talks here about the importance of singing and music as he was growing up and how it was normal to have a ‘party piece’, this was my experience too.  It surprises me, but probably the thing I miss most about Ireland, apart from my people, is the having the aul sing-songs … the heart’s release.
